The Voice of Remodeling in Southern California
Did you know that APRIL 2010 IS YOUR DEADLINE TO BE IN
COMPLIANCE WITH EPA GUIDELINES TO CONDUCT LEAD-BASED PAINT
ACTIVITIES and RENOVATIONS
To register to attend an EPA Training session, :
http://events.constantcontact.com/register/event?llr=i6bcxkcab&oeidk=a07e3s3rstz93c27554
The EPA will require that you and all your employees be
trained to properly control the results from disturbing any surface
containing lead. This applies to wherever you work that might have
children living or visiting the location. You must control the work
area, minimize the dust, clean thoroughly, and maintain proper
records. Oh yes, and pay additional fees and training costs. You
can’t do this on your own. You’ll be required to take 8 hours of
training led by EPA trained and qualified instructors. This program
is called RRP and provides EPA accredited training. Your company
must submit an application for your firm to become certified and
then pay a fee. The processing of these applications will start
immediately.
Whenever you do such work there are 13 different items you’ll be
responsible to track and report to the EPA each and every time you
are demolishing surfaces created prior to 1987. You’re to provide a
five day pre-notification filing that can be waived however if
certain conditions apply. One thing is clear; you’ll be in serious
trouble if you aren’t prepared. NARI of Los Angeles will be helping
our member’s sort this out and offer a training course in order to
be in compliance before this looming dead line.
Best Regards,
Board of Directors
NARI of Los Angeles.
